Notes I am not sure of the place where my Sowa ancestors are from...believe it is a SE or SW part of Poland in the 1830's to 1850's.  Kalina is one placename, but the other looks like it all could be in Czestochowa [??].

Kalina seems to be in other places, too.  My Polish research is so amateurish.

My g g grandfather Frank [American spelling] Sowa was born abt. 1829 and immigrated to USA [Milwaukie, WI]  along with his wife, Carolina, and 1 or 2 brothers and 2 of one brothers' sons.

So far, I have been unable to find these families on any ship passenger list.  I know it was a sailing vessel and that it took them many months to finally get to the USA.

I feel ashamed that I can't offer more specific info. about place names.

Frank was in the Civil War and I do have his records.  He was naturalized by the 1900 Federal census.  By then, he  lived in Leavenworth Co., KS USA.
