Notes I became interested in geneology about 2 years ago. A family story I had heard more than once said that a paternal ancestor had gone all the way to Spain and brought a Spanish princess back to Poland by horseback. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could discover any truth to this. I also would like to see if there is any connection between my grandfather, Anton Podwojski, and Nikolai Podvoisky, who played a role in the 1917 Russian Revolution. As for my grandmother, Rozalia Figurska, it took year to find out which Lipowiec she came from. It was only after recently learning of a sister I didn't know she had, as this sister died young, that I found a record listing Brodnice as birthplace. To my delight, there was Lipowiec nearby. This ancestral search has been at times extremely frustrating, but it has also been enlightening and rewarding. I can certainly see why people spend so much time and effort looking for those who came before them.
