A cemetery in Drezdenko here. Previously Protestant. The gate dates from 1863.

Hello Magda,

Again, thank you very much for your work and time in assisting me in my research of my family.

I have spoken to my mother about this, however at 88 years her memory is not all the best. Unfortunately, very few photographs survived the war - only some from close family members.

Regards,
Henry

Do you know what was the fate of your grandparents? I know that the evacuation of residents of the city began January 26, 1945 On the evening, in the Kostrzyń. on the night of January 29 to January 30, the city was occupied by the Russians. To protect Driesen, the Wehrmacht left 600 Volksstuermaenner. January 30 remained alive their 29
After the war, there was an interest in the German past of the city, and despite the fact that many former residents were coming-no one wrote their relationship with the city life. Now, it all're interested Smile
I'll try to take some pictures of the city.
And this is link do web album with photos Drezdenko - the jumble Smile https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=lamma07&target=ALBUM&id=5875591972763056545&authkey=Gv1sRgCPf_4_Kp1Z3K8AE&feat=email

If the link does not work-let me know
greetings
Magda

If you can read German or know how to have google translate if for you, ( http://translate.google.com/ )
take look at this 2002 article of Der Spiegal http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/spiegelspecial/index-2002-2.html
It is all about the great expulsion.

This is true. In Poland, the postwar government took care of spreading hatred of the Germans. And many people from the wartime generation ago have given up. For example, this was the former director of the museum - perhaps the rest so it retains much of the pre-war history of the city. However, even greater in Poland was the hatred of the Russians - as of course does not officially said. But people still do not like the Russians and the Germans have long been nice neighbors across the Oder River!
Regards
Magda
As a curiosity-the tower of the church of our visitors write their names on bricks - is this a lot - from 1902 until today ....
