My grandparents came from the area southwest of Opole. Visited the area in 1998. Through my research and those other cousins, I learned my grandmother, Anna Kampa came from Kompractice, baptized in Polska Nova Wies nearby, and my grandfather, Johann Maier was baptized nearby in Siedliska. His parents were Frederich Maier/Meyer/Majer and married Johanna Klennert in Szydlow nearby.My grandfather John, immigrated to Minnesota in 1871 and my grandmother Anna Kampa immigrated to Minnesota in 1880 with her brother Francis and his wife and other children. Their mother came a few months later with the youngest child Valentin Kampa.
