| Notes | I have been doing research for over 10 years in the Zamagurie Region which encompasses the southern Polish villages and eastern Slovakia villages which now straddle the border between the two countries. Ancestry also traces to Bialka Tatrzanka, Bukowina and Podhale Region. Having visited 7x to the region and working the records extensively, I have created a database of over 30,000 names whose pedigrees link to the region including those covered by this website. Recently I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study emigration from Slovakia (which includes the former Zamagurie Region) and reasons for emigration. I will live in Slovakia for 10 months beginning September 2011. This is a serious academic study from village perspective. I am very interested in other members ancestor's reasons for migration from this region in particular. I also am the group administrator for the Zamagurie Region Dual Geographic DNA project as part of this thesis. You can read about this NON-PROFIT project at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/ZamagurieRegionDNAProject/ One of the benefits of joining is I help our members locate ancestral villages and search not only my private database but also the amassed village records I have personally digitized in the villages. There is never any charge for the genealogy for project members. As many of you may have come to realize, many of the village records in this region have not been microfilmed. Perhaps I can help.
