UPDATE: I need any and all information on HALLERS ARMY! Specifically, the last ship, the USS President Grant that returned the remaining "Polish-Americans" of Haller's Army to the US. Forty years of hitting walls when researching any family line on the paternal side. Amazingly, found a metal box filled with documents that might help me get some answers. The documents are in polish, handwritten, only certain items saved. Documents over 100 years old. Birth Certificate (unusual), marriage certificate, some military records, not many. I do not have much to leave my family, and would like to give them dual ancestral citizenship, as I am the last generation that can. Last name (many variations): Arczynski, Arcynski, and at least 10 more. Birth about 1896, Arrived to US about 1913, went back in ww1 about 1917, returned 1920 or 1921. I think he also somehow served for the Polish one document has the seal and written in polish. The other document from Warsaw at the Consular In English, the certification of health, returning from Poland as a polish-american citizen last ship that retrieved the remaining men of Hallers Army on USS President Grant in 1921. Found the parish (I think) Dubrin Wessler. Don't know what else to do because I am unable to translate these documents. They must have been important. The only documents saved. |
