My ancestors Johann Freidrich SAUER (1797-1887) & his wife Anna Elis (nee STEIN - 1802-1889 ) lived in Ransen, Schlesien, Prussia which I now understand is Rzeszow, Poland. Their son Johann Herman SAUER emmigrated to South Australia at age 11 years with his parents in the vessel "Sophie" in 1858. His daughter Amelia Emma SAUER is my late grandmother. I tried to track the ancestory of the Sauers further back but the Polish authorities said that the great bulk of civil & church records had not survived the bombings of the second world war. So it seems I have reached a dead end in that regard. |
