My father is Polish, being born in Krasnystaw and living in Kaszowka district of Kowel Ukraine just prior to WWII from where his family was deported into forced labour in Siberia. His family was released into the Polish army in 1941 and he served as part of the Polish Corps under British 8th Army from 1942 in North Africa and Italy (including Monte Cassino). After the war he and his family (brothers, sisters and mother) were repatriated to England, where he lived and married my English mother and where I was born. We emigrated to Australia in 1964. I have been investigating my English and Polish roots for several years now, but have not gotten far on the Polish side except for records in England after 1946. Any help, advice, contacts would be much appreciated. |
