I have been researching my Polish family for about 12 years and have made it back to my 3rd Great Grandfather Mateuz Kaniecki and my 3rd Great Grandmother Hedwig Sadowska Kaniecki. They were married on the 9th of March 1848 in Wabcz. They immigrated in 1881 with their daughter, Barbara Kaniecka Reis and her husband Ignatius and son Stanislaus. They returned to Paparszyn in 1884 and again returned to the U.S. in 1887. Three other sons immigrated as well, including Sylvester, Paul and Anthony (my 2nd Great Grandfather). Total, they had 9 children but I don't know if the others survived into adulthood, if they died young or if they remained in Poland or not.
I also have been able to trace back to other ancestors including Joseph and Paulina Romanski, Johannes and Catharina Norkowska Szybanski and Humphry and Barbara Kluskowska Tkaczyk. The families came from small villages outside of the citiies of Chelmno and Swiecie. Most of their sacraments were made in Wabcz, Kujawsko-Pomorskie.
