My name is Sandra (Kasprzycki) McNicholas.  I live in a suburb about 35 miles SW of Chicago.  At this point, I’m researching the Polish roots of my paternal Grandparents:  Michal Kasprzycki and Mary/Marya Jaskowiec.

My grandmother, Mary Jaskowiec, was from the village of Bulina and my grandfather, Michal Kasprzycki was from the neighboring village of Poręba.  Both of these villages are about 5 miles southeast of Myślenice.  They knew each other from attending the same school, but did not have a relationship until they came to the United States around 1913.

I know for certain that they were born in these villages because my sole surviving aunt had visited there in the 80’s.  Even though she is almost 95, she is still very active and mentally sharp, so she has been very helpful to me in my research.  As a gift to her for her 95^th birthday, I would like to present her with a book of our family history and it’s because of this I want to go back as many generations as I can.

I also know that I have living relatives in Bulina, but unfortunately my aunt does not remember the last name of the man her cousin married.  They had children that would be about my age right now.

Right now I’m having a hard time determining what parish would have served their villages when they were born.  I can’t find any information about existing Roman Catholic churches in either  Poręba or Bulina.  Perhaps they traveled to Myślenice to go to church.
