My father was of Polish descent and I have been researching my family history since 1993. My family immigrated before 1900 from the Suwalki and Poznan regions of Poland to Coal Township, Shamokin and Mount Carmel, PA. They found employment in the coal mining industry. I have traced my family back to the 1700's, using the Polish National Archives and have been in contact with family members still residing in Poland. Americanized spellings: Kolovich/Kolowicz/Kolowich is from Kujalowicz; Nowasatka is from Nowosadko and Kulakowski is from Kulak. |
