My great-grandfather, Pawel/Paul Krepicz, was from Habkowce, Galicia (now Poland). His wife, Catherine (Husack) Krepicz, was born in Pennsylvania. The information I find on the Husacks gives mixed information on where they were born. Catherine's parents were Anna/"Annie" (Schumada) and Anthony/"Tony" Husack.
Pawel Krepicz left Galicia in 1918, the year Poland was being formed. According to my grandmother, his father and step-mother stayed. There were many anti-semantic acts against the village due to the fact that they were an Ukrainian Greek Catholic community. I can not find any church documents (from the United States) from that village or Tisna. I do not know any other family names from Galicia. The only other thing is that my great-grandfather, Pawel, took in his nephew John (Iwan) for a period of time.
I am working on all sides of my family, but Galicia holds my interest the most. If anybody can help me learn where to dig more or what books to read, I would love to know!
