Research notes I've been researching my family history for about a year, off and on, and I've just gotten to work on my Polish family. I don't have any experience in the Polish language, but I'm hoping my background in Linguistics will help me out.

My great grandfather was born in January of 1889 in what was then called Austria; his name was Stanislaus/Stanislaw Gruszeczka. I have not found his immigration papers, but I have found his naturalization card, which does not state the year he immigrated (field left blank).

My great grandmother was Helen/Helena Rakoczy. She was born in Poland in 1893 to Joseph Rakoczy and Barbara Bubnick Rakoczy and came to the States as a young girl. I have not found their immigration or naturalization records.

The two married in June of 1911 in Kewanee, Illinois. They were members of St. Stanislaus Catholic church in Kewanee. They had 9 children: Frank Chester, Chester F (I think these are two different sons), Paul S, Valeria H, Veronica M, Joseph John (my grandfather), John J, Stanley D Jr, and Edward Chester.
