Research notes |
Two of my ancestral lines lead back to Pomerania. The Tobolt family (with allowable variation for Tobol, Toboldt, Tobold, Tobald, etc.) came to the United States from Krummenflies (now Krzwya Wies) in 1882. The Volzke family did not document its origins, but clues include Rummelsburg (now Miastko) and Koslin (now Koszalin). Parents Friedrich and Pauline came to the United States, also in 1882, preceded by sons Friedrich and Albert. The family names Mischke (Mitschke) and Klabunde (Klabunda, Klabunder) are associated with Pauline. I have largely viewed my family history study in these lines as German research and hope pursuing it further as Polish research will give me a better perspective of my family origins as well as lead me closer to the village the Volzke family called home. |
