Research notes |
I am currently researching my Mother's side of the family. She emigrated to the U.S. with her parents in 1951. Her maiden name was Daniluk. Her Mother's maiden name was Brzozowski and her Mother's maiden name was Mazewska. To the best of our understanding, my Grandmother worked as a nanny for a German SS during WWII. We have very little oral or written history about her family. My Grandfather was a Polish soldier and spent time as a POW. Again, very little information about either of their families. According to my Mother's birth certificate, my Grandmother was born in Ostrołęka and my Grandfather in "Pasieka," which seems to be more of a name given to a town center rather than one actual city. There are several Pasieka's listed in Poland. We know for certain that my Grandmother had a Brother by the name of Zygmunt, who wrote to her into the 1980's. He still listed Ostrołęka as his residence. My Grandfather passed away in the 1950's and my Grandmother remarried. Hence the search for the name Sewruk, also Polish origin and also with very little information to work with. Hoping to connect with others who can help me unearth a little of my family's history. |
