Research notes Want to find my paternal grandparents' history prior to immigrating to the U.S.  Their names are Szymon Stefan Kaczmarski and Rozalia Kaczmarski.  I was told they at least once worked in the fields and during that time had three daughters, two of whom died from exposure.  Albina, who became known as Bertha, traveled with Rozalia to the U.S. around 1911.  Szymon had arrived a bit earlier, found work in the Indiana steel mills, plus other jobs, saving money to bring his wife and daughter over and provide for them.  They ended up with a tavern on 155th St. in Calumet City IL, and living quarters behind it.  They produced two sons - my father, Benedict Water, and Walter Joseph.
