Obidowa Near Nowy Targ, Kozmice Wielkie Near Wieliczka, Rzepiennik Marciszewski Near Tarnow, Sierakow Near Dobczyce
I am second generation Polish American. All four of my grandparents immigrated to the United States, between 1904 and 1914. I have been researching for more than 15 years, when I first googled my grandmother's name and found her on a website. I was bitten by the genealogy bug! I am also happy to help out where I can!
I am fortunate to have the records for her ancestors in Poland, from Kozmice Wielkie, because of that website, going back into the early 1700s. My other grandmother was born in Rzepiennik Marciszewski, and lucky for all of us with ancestors from the Tarnow diocese, those records were microfilmed and made available from Family Search (you could rent the microfilms and they would send them to your local Family History center). I have spent many hours reading the birth, marriage and death records as recorded in Latin, in the parish books of her area, and have gotten back to the late 1700s. I believe Family Search are in process of digitizing all of those records, as microfilm rentals to your local Family History Center are no longer available.
I have not had so much luck with the Obidowa records, they would be with the Klikuszowa parish, or the Sierakow records, which would be with the Dziekanowice parish near Krakow. I have found a database listing of Dziekanowice marriages, but it only had the marriage of my grandfather's youngest sister in it; luckily that at least confirmed his parents names for me, but it did not have his parent's marriage listed in that parish, so I am now stumped. So, I continue my hunt for birth/marriage/death records from Klikuszowa before 1900, and at least birth records first for Dziekanowice to see if my grandfather and his siblings were in fact baptized in that parish.
