Post subject: Wara, Poland
Interested in learning more about the divisions of this area during WW2. My grandfather is from Wara, Poland, but I was always told he was Ukrainian/identified as Ukrainian. Was told he was conscripted by the Russian army, but escaped and made it to allied territory (US), never saw his parents again but did reconnect with a sister decades later after resettling in the US.
Wladimir Zubko (DOB 1921) son of Mikolai (son of Ivan and Anna Torun) and Ana Skubisz (daughter of Andre and Catherine Tyka)
Any help or suggestions appreciated!

Hi zubkojaj, I am helping my friend with some family history. Her mother Olga Senius, age 96, was born in Wara. Her family was sent to Russia during the war and when they were liberated, the family made their way to the US. I was wondering if you know much about the village or if you have any contacts there. We are hoping to connect Olga with some people in the village that might want to correspond with her. Thank you for reading this message! Shellie Gray, Atlanta, Georgia.

Hi Shellie- Unfortunately, I do not know much about Wara or have contacts there. Unfortunately, my family has since lost contact from any of the descendants of the sister my grandfather reunited with back in the 70s. It's a hope of mine to learn more as well. Good luck to you! Your friend is lucky to have the help! -Jacqui
