Hello,

In need of help finding a couple Polish lines on my maternal side. I've hit a road block and cannot seem to find much on them.

My grandfather Francis Louis O'Connor (1910 - 1985) married Marian Alice Kszanak (1909 - 1981) in Buffalo, NY.

Marian's father was Thomas Krzanak (1882 - 1945) and her mother was Josephine Kukula (1884 - 1922). Thomas was born in Poland, but I'm not sure where. Josephine was Austria or Poland. If my research was right, Thomas has two brothers, Piotr and Joseph Krzanak.

I've seen many variations of Krzanak/Kszanak and Kukula.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Smile

Hello Matt,
In the 1910 census there is Tomasz and Józefa Krzanak with son John and daughter Mary (and a boarder John Kukula). The address is Buffalo Ward 8. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RJD-9ZV?i=38&cc=1727033
There is also Piotr Krzanak (born ab. 1880) with his wife Anna and brother Józef Krzanak (born ab. 1888), also at Buffalo Ward 8. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GRJD-9V4?i=10&cc=1727033

I have found ship manifest for Józef Krzanak from Gierałtowice, going to his brother Piotr. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JFFX-S3Y
There is also ship manifest for Piotr https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JJMS-YP1 but i couldn't find any for Tomasz.

Gierałtowice is a village in Lesser Poland Voivodeship. In Geneteka you can find some records for surname Krzanak in Gierałtowice parish

Hi Monika,

Thank you for the links. I do not have the Marriage Certificate for Tomasz and Jozefa. The only hard evidence I have is the death certificate of Marian Kszanak (married name O'Connor that lists her parents as Thomas Krzanak and Josephine Kukula).

I did find this just now. Which may be him since its the same home town as the Piotr listed on his.

The marriage certificate for Thomas & Josephine would be very helpful for your further research. They probably got married in Buffalo between 1906 and 1909.
