Returned to Zaduszniki and visited the parish cemetery, but could not find any Obiala’s. Zenon spoke with some townspeople who vaguely remember an Obiala family, but could not tell for certain where the house may have been. With the priest not around, the church was not open, but mass was being held at 7:00 PM.
Not wanting to spend the day waiting, we headed to Bakowo to seek Antoni Obiala’s birthplace.
We then drove to the town of Torun which dates back to the 1200’s. We toured the old town and toured the museum home of Nicolaus Copernicus, the father of modern day astronomy. Also were able to visit a cathedral in which construction was started in 1232. It took 50 years to complete and we were able to get inside and take pictures, but no flash. Absolutely magnificent is the only way to describe the interior. Having played tourist for the day, we headed back to Wloclawek with yet more memories.
