Wanderlust: Polska 2014. Part 12: Adam and Halina.

May 7, 2014

We spent the morning at a Skansen, which is an open air museum. It was very interesting to learn the true beginnings of the people of this area. Definitely a must-see for genealogical tourists who have family in the area. We always say that our ancestors came from Poland. But, where did our Polish ancestors come from?  The Skansen tells all.

At 3pm we met with Adam and Halina Buszek, and his sister.  Halina was scheduled to work that day, and thankfully a co-worker traded with her so she could be there with us.  As a retired Librarian, I know how hard it is to get people to switch at the last minute, and I was very grateful to her nice colleague.

I had two photos of Adam’s great-grandfather Zygmunt Buszek. He had never seen a photo of him!   Zygmunt Buszek had traveled to the USA to visit his brothers. Jan Buszek lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Joseph Buszek (my Great-Grandfather) lived in Detroit.   They all met at Joseph’s house and had professional photos taken.
Zenon used his wifi and we emailed the photos to him right on the spot.

Adam Buszek and I hit it off immediately.  We have a lot of the same interests in natural healing and alternative medicines, and he showed us his collection of books on the subject.  We exchanged email addresses and have stayed in contact.  He gave me a handwritten family tree that he did overnight for me, how kind of him!    🙂
